Principal Michelle Kefford said she is taking the attack very seriously and is determined to indetify the perpetrators. She wrote in an email to parents: “While this park is not a school or district-operated property, the safety of our students is always our priority, and we are working with law enforcement to help identify those involved.

“Due to the open investigation, I am not able to provide additional details, but I want to assure you this situation is being taken seriously. Please do remind your students to say something if they see something. As always, thank you for your support."

Police are still urging witnesses to come forward to help them identify the attackers, as no arrests have been made as of yet.

The school was also the site of one of the worst school shootings in US history in 2018, when gunman and former student Nikolas Cruz opened fire, killing 14 students and three teachers.

Police said he opened fire with an AR-15 assault rife, ruthlessly picking off students and teachers, before going back to fire more shots at the wounded victims. He is now living out his 17 consecutive life sentences.

Then, on February 15 this year, one day after the fifth anniversary of the shooting, the school was forced to go into lockdown are receiving a "suspicious phone call".
