A dad from was beaten to death by a group of teenagers and adults after trying to defend his son from a school fight.

Christopher Michael Wright, 43, was outside his home on Friday when a group of three teens and two adults approached him looking for his fiancee's teenage son.

The 14-year-old boy had been in a fight with another teen at Brooklyn Park Middle School earlier that day, WBAL-TV reported.

Mr Wright was beaten up by the angry group who were searching for his fiancee's son and was rushed to hospital.

He died in hospital the following day from a traumatic brain injury caused by the alleged attack.

Before the attack, Mr Wright had told the group that the boy was not going to go out and fight the boys, his fiancee Tracy Karopchinsky said.

She told the outlet: "Chris came out to tell them, like, he's not coming out here to fight, and they threatened at one point to come in and get him, and then they said, 'If he's not going to fight, then you're going to fight."

The horrific beating, which happened when Karopchinsky’s three children were home, was caught on a nearby surveillance camera.

She said: "My dad and I tried to go onto the camera to look, and the first video that comes up is my 12-year-old son screaming, ‘Daddy, daddy, daddy,’ and running out of the house into the street to go help his dad.

“And, I couldn’t watch anymore after that. I just couldn’t."

After the beating, Ms Karopchinsky said the damage to her fiance can't have been caused just from "punching".

She said: "Just looking at the damage that was done to him, that wasn’t just punching that did that. Like, there’s no way that punching did that.

"The damage was done before the ambulance ever took him away. I mean, he’d had a seizure. It was done. There was nothing that the hospital could do."

So far no charges have been filed against the individuals but school officials confirmed the fight at the school and said their operating with authorities in their investigation.

His grieving fiancee said Chirs was a devoted father and her best friend.

Kristin Karopchinsky, the victim's sister-in-law said: "I'll never forget the sound, I'll never forget the noise my nephews made when we had to tell them he was gone."

"I mean, just the outpour we've been getting from friends and just, they're really, really gonna miss out on somebody with a really big heart. He loved beyond," she added.
