Cops discovered the emaciated corpse of an eight-year-old boy from Illinois who was beaten and starved to death alongside a sinister note attached to a door.

Cops found little Navin Jones' body unresponsive at his parents' home and he tragically later died in hospital on March 29, 2022.

His cause of death was chronic malnutrition and physical abuse, leading to both of his parents being charged with his murder.

The Illinois lad, allegedly starved to death by his parents, weighed only 30 pounds at the time of his death and was covered in bruises.

The jury in a murder trial were shown harrowing photos of the eight-year-old, who was so thin when he died that his bones were visible through his skin.

His mum, Stephanie Jones, 37, pleaded guilty last week to first-degree murder in an attempt to reduce her prison time.

Meanwhile, his dad, Brandon Walker, 41, is on trial this week for the same charge.

Navin was found emaciated and skeletal in the Peoria, Illinois, home, where cops also found a chilling sign, seemingly directed to Navin's older brother, on his door, which read: "Don't give Navin any food or drink. Do not let him out of the room. He has what he needs until I wake up."

The boy was found locked in his room covered in urine and feces, with signs of physical abuse across his face, body, arms, and legs.

The boy's room only had a bed and a single toy, while the rest of the house was fully furnished with a stocked pantry.

Shockingly, his brother's room was filled with toys, a TV with video games and a tidy bed.

Stephanie Jones is set to face at least 20 years in prison when she is sentenced next February. She plans to testify against the boy's father.

In February 2022, an anonymous tip led the Department for Children and Family Services to visit the home just a month before the boy was found unconscious and later died. During this wellness check, Navin was seen as "sickly" thin, and small.

Navin told the caseworker that he wanted to stay with his parents during that visit and DCFS decided he was safe.

The little lad's autopsy revealed that he had lost the fat layer under his skin due to chronic malnutrition.

Before his death, his muscles had started to waste away, meaning his movements would have been limited.

The boy had markings on his wrists consistent with being restrained and bruises caused by blunt force trauma. Navin also suffered cardiac arrest, triggered by starvation, according to the autopsy.

As the trial continued, the court heard from a paramedic and three police officers involved in the case. They detailed the CPR they performed and the medication given to stimulate the child's heart.

Walker will continue to stand trial this week over his son's alleged murder.
