'Kidnapper' stalking University of Arizona attacks two women - police issue urgent warning

Several women have reported being groped by a suspected kidnapper near the University of Arizona campus in Tucson.

University of Arizona: Police warn of possible kidnapper

Police have issued a warning after at least two women were attacked near the University of Arizona this month.

The assaults have prompted school and local police to increase their presence and search for a potential kidnapper, authorities said on Wednesday.

Campus Police Chief Chris Olson said that there will be more patrols in the community to keep an eye out for the attacker.

Olson said: “High visibility patrol engagements will occur within the surrounding areas. We want to balance that with our surveillance techniques as well.”

The suspected kidnapper has been linked to a dark blue car, possibly an early 2000s Toyota Camry and Corolla, according to police.

Chris Dennison, assistant police chief of the Tucson Police Department, said the car also has a fading Arizona license plate.

Dennison added the car would have a dented front bumper and tinted windows.

The most recent incident occurred on Monday when a woman said she was groped near the campus, officials said.

The incident took place near East 7th Street and North Vine Avenue south of the university.

According to the Tucson Police Department, “the suspect description and circumstances were similar to the previous abduction attempts” earlier this month.

On December 7, a woman “noticed a vehicle was following her” near East 8th Street and North Mountain Avenue before a “male suspect parked the vehicle, got out, and grabbed the victim from behind,” police said.

The suspect ran back to his car and drove away after the woman dropped to the ground and “started screaming,” according to police.

A “similar incident” occurred on December 6, when a woman was followed by a man near North Campbell Avenue and East 3rd Street just east of campus.
