Golden Bachelor's Gerry and Theresa's biggest issue is leaving her 'less than thrilled'

Now that the world knows that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist are engaged, the couple have relished in doing “normal life things.”

The long-distance couple have since moved down to Charleston, South Carolina, a top-ranked retirement town, less than two hours away from where one of Theresa’s sons lives.

The blended family is getting along great, they share, with their daughters' calling each other sister.

Gerry shared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast that the couple have enjoyed “getting away from the glitz and glamour and the high-profile of the Golden Bachelor to silently slip into normal life and do the common things,” like grocery shopping.

However, the retired restaurateur realized he and his fiancé have very different food preferences.

“I eat super clean,” Thersea revealed, sharing that she doesn’t eat sugar, which is why she was less than thrilled to be coerced into eating sweets like cupcakes and cotton candy during her stint on the show.

“I realized afterwards I was practically shoving cotton candy down her throat on that date [at the pier],” Gerry jokes.

While the two have had to adjust and accommodate each other’s eating habits, they agreed that they help each other be better people.

“I feel like I’m going to influence him to eat healthier, and he’s going to influence me to go to bed earlier,” she said.

Gerry has since also addressed the rumors that he chose Theresa after she revealed that she has a successful career in finance.

“I knew that she was still working, and I knew generally what she did, [so] in that conversation, what was revealed to me was that she was a logical thinker, she was analytical about her approach,” he explained on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. “The next step from that is I could have this person with me being a good problem solver when things get tough.”

He also revealed that he was looking for an equal partner unlike many other couples he knows where the men “take charge” of decision making and problem solving.

“I didn’t really want that - I wanted to be 50/50 with someone,” he says. “We are both strong personalities, we’ll both stand up for what we believe, but that even makes it better because I think you learn from each other when there’s back and forth.”
