Bold and the Beautiful fans slam 'idiotic' Eric Forrester plot hole after collapse twist

The Bold and the Beautiful left fans on a cliffhanger last week after an episode saw legacy character Eric Forrester (played by John McCook) collapse and seemingly die in front of his family members.

However, following the show jumping back into things and showing that Eric is still (barely) alive and now in the hospital, fans are starting to attack the CBS soap for the way the storyline is playing out.

Friday’s episode saw the assembled Forresters and Logans, as well as other guests, attend Eric’s planned “farewell” party, and after a brief tense moment with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) over the outcome of their fashion challenge, things seemed to be okay.

However, it quickly ended in tragedy as Eric collapsed, and as his loved ones gathered and sobbed around him, he told them his time had come and closed his eyes.

Now, Monday’s episode revealed that he was rushed to the hospital – but fans were left confused about how that played out.

Accompanying Eric to the hospital was his partner, Donna (Jennifer Gareis), with Ridge and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) right behind.

However, two of his other children, as well as several grandkids, stayed behind at the mansion – including Bridget (Ashley Jones), his daughter who is a doctor and came in exclusively for the party.

Fans were dumbfounded over how she was left behind at the house, with Thorne (Windsor Harmon), another legacy character and Eric’s son, also staying back.

“So… there are three doctors in the family and NONE of them could examine Eric???” one asked on X (formerly Twitter).

“Why didn’t Bridget ride in the ambulance? Girl, this is your dad and you’re a DOCTOR!!!” another said.

“Why isn’t Bridget at the hospital? She’s Eric’s daughter and a doctor. And Thorne should be there as well,” a third added.

Others also pointed out some major plot holes with the storyline, as several of Eric’s children didn’t return to town for the party either, or any of his friends and other legacy characters who played a large role in his story – while the Logan sisters, who consist of Donna, Brooke and Katie (Heather Tom), were all present and played important roles in the story.

“It irritates me that soap sites and viewers have accepted without question the idiotic idea that it’s fine for four of Eric’s kids, grandkids, friends, Taylor, Lauren and even Sheila would be absent during his final goodbyes because his story is about the Logans,” a fan questioned.

Despite the show seemingly preparing to say goodbye to the character, amid rumors McCook plans to retire, he isn’t going anywhere just yet.

The entire week’s episodes are apparently going to center around his health scare and whether or not he lives or dies.
