1000-Lb Sisters Tammy's homecoming does not go as planned in the season 5 premiere

Tammy Slaton is back with her family, her primary support throughout her journey.

During the season premiere of 1000-Lb Sisters, fans get to see Tammy and her new husband Caleb interact as they live together at the facility. Tammy sums up their relationship by explaining how close they are because she will pass gas in front of him.

“To pass gas, that’s magical”

But, Caleb may not be able to go home with her if he is not approved to get his tracheotomy out. But in the end, the “doctor doesn't think” he is ready. Leaving Tammy in tears. 

Their tearful goodbye is truly heartbreaking because they don’t know when they will see each other again. Caleb topped off the scene by reciting a poem he wrote for his wife.

Amy still seems to be struggling in her marriage with Micheal not helping her out as much as she would like with Gage and Glenn. And she worries that things are just going to get worse when her sister comes home.

The season 5 opener of 1000-Lb Sisters showed her returning home after spending 14 months in a weight loss rehab. Successfully completing her treatment, Tammy shed nearly 300 pounds, a milestone her family is celebrating.

Her relatives have been her steadfast supporters during her weight loss journey. Now, fans are expressing admiration for her remarkable transformation.

After witnessing the 37-year-old Tammy arrive in their van, Misty expressed her amazement at her weight loss.

"I knew she should be getting down close to that size, but it didn't really register that she'd be sitting in the seat. That is awesome," she stated.

Amanda shared the same enthusiasm. She observed that Tammy looked incredible, even with excess skin, a sight she'd never been so happy to see.

In the early episodes of last season, Tammy tipped the scales at 717 pounds, her highest ever.

Later in the season, she managed to get down to 534 pounds, qualifying her for bariatric surgery. Following the surgery, Tammy expressed her excitement for a fresh start in life. She looked forward to simple joys in life.

"Just being able to travel and sit in an actual car seat or in an airplane—just get in an airplane," she said.

While Amy was initially happy to see her sister return, the stress she thought it would put on her eventually won out. 

As the family starts to joke around a bit, Amy gets upset when Amanda makes a joke about her eyesight. Leading the family to assume that is not the real reason she is upset. 

Things get so heated that Misty tells Amy, “f**k you, go home and calm down.”

Welcome home Amy.

Fan reaction to the episode was mixed, with most fans rooting for Amy, while a lot of fans were calling out Michael for not helping Amy. 

“Look at Michael sitting on the floor like a lump at the photography studio, while one child is running and the infant is trying to roll over,” wrote one fan on X (formerly known as Twitter).

While the preview for season 5 sure that it was not going to get better for Amy and Michael.

“So this gon’ be the Amy crying season?” observed another fan.

But most of the comments about Tammy were strictly positive with fans cheering on the progress she has made. 

“MY GIRL TAMMY FINALLY LOSING THE WEIGGGHHHHHTTTT” shared one fan.

“Tammy we are all so proud of you!” cheered another.
