A woman who had specifically booked a window seat, refused to give up her seat so a Mum could sit with her children.

She has uploaded a clip of herself on TikTok (@myconquering) accompanied with a ‘text bubble’ asking,

“What would you do”?

After boarding the aircraft she found a woman sitting in her window seat, with two children next to her.

The woman asked if Nelson might consider switching seats so as she could sit next to her children.

Trying to be be accommodating, Nelson replied, “As long as it’s a window seat, I’m happy to switch”.

The women gestured to the row behind and pointed at the middle seat,

“Mine is right there”.

Nelson writes, “Having had only 90 minutes of sleep the night before and knowing I had to give a presentation to 500 people, I desperately need some sleep, so I did not agree to switch seats”.

The children were not infants. They looked to be “about 11 and 15 years old” and their mother was within arms reach of them.

This riled the mother and she proceeded complain about her to the poor unsuspecting woman next to her.  “But the woman

actually defended me - several times”.  “It was so kind and I appreciated it because I was feeling really guilty”, says Nelson.

Comments on TikTok have been in her favor, so presumably, she can now take comfort in the decision she made.

One wrote: “We fly often with our 3 kids and pay to sit together, we don’t expect people to move for us”.

Another, “That’s happened to me. I'll just say I didn't sit in a middle seat”.

“I had that happen. And I told the woman I wouldn’t give up my exit row window seat that I paid for. Then I spent 2 hours next to her awful children”, wrote another sympathetic reader:

Finally, “No discussion….it is your seat. End of story”.
