A popular motoring YouTube channel has revealed the best used cars motorists can buy if they want something comfortable and reliable this winter.

Tommy and Brendan run The Fast Lane Car, a YouTube channel which reviews the latest models and gives advice for motorists thinking about buying their next set of wheels.

In a recent video, the motoring experts explain that motorists can pick up a decent car that features all-wheel drive for under $1,000.

Tommy said: “When it comes to cheap cars that power all four wheels, it doesn’t get much cheaper than the Jaguar X-Type.”

Brandon added: “Yeah, these cars have depreciated heavily, especially in this form because this one has not had much love in its ownership, and it shows.”

As the average used car continues to increase in price, Brandon added that almost all cars sold for under $1,000 will have some issues that will need to be fixed.

However, the boys praised the old Jaguar’s interior for being incredibly comfortable and spacious, particularly in the rear.

They also approved of the car’s 2.5-liter V6 engine and five-speed manual transmission, stating that it performed well given the vehicle’s age.

Later in the video, Tommy and Brandon showed viewers thinking of buying a dependable winter car for about $5,000 that they could buy an Audi A4, which features a powerful engine.

Brandon advised: “I think that the styling on this has really aged pretty well and this one has the 2.8-liter V6 engine with 190 horsepower and a little over 200 pound-feet of torque.

Tommy said: “This particular one is in pretty good shape, a 2001 so it’s a facelifted version with 130,000 miles. They’re just a really perfect design, super elegant and the inside is even better!”

Finally, The Fast Lane Car showed that about $15,000 can buy a nice example of a Mercedes-Benz E Class that will look good in all seasons.

Brandon explained: “For our most expensive vehicle today, Tommy, we are looking at none other than the Mercedes E-Class, and this is the W212 which came out in 2010 and sold through 2016. This particular one is a 2013, but in wagon form with all-wheel drive. This has got to be the ultimate winter car in my opinion.”

Tommy continued: “Now as you step inside this E-Class Wagon, even though it’s going on ten years old, it still looks pretty good in here. The button pads and some of the controls are maybe a little dated but the wood and the dash material and especially the gauges are really fantastic.”
