Wells Fargo announces more branch closures in weeks’ time - full list of banks closing

Banks across America are closing branches in light of changing consumer trends, with Wells Fargo being one of them.

Wells Fargo has confirmed the closure of two more branches as the bank continues to shut down operations across the country.

The financial institution will close two branches in the coming weeks, according to The Alburqure Business Journal.

Specifically, the Wells Fargo branches in Bosque Farms and Santa Teresa will cease operating on October 4.

Speaking to the publication, the bank’s spokesperson Ruben Pilido cited changing consumer behaviour as to why the bank is making these closures.

Following the pandemic, the move to a more digitized model of doing business has grown in pace.

Mr Pulido said: “Customers use our wide range of digital capabilities for many of their banking needs and, as a result, more transactions are happening outside the branch.

“As customer preferences and transaction patterns change, so will our branches and the experiences customers have in them.”

Prior to this latest confirmation, Wells Fargo previously closed its branch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

According to Mr Pulido, the bank combining the Corrales branch into the Rio Rancho location at 4110 Meadowlark SE.

This is under three miles away which means that branch customers should still have the option for in-person services if they desire it.

Furthermore, the Wells Fargo representative highlighted there is another location near the Corrales location, at 9390 Coors NW.

As it stands, the financial institution has over 50 branches in New Mexico with 23 of them being in Albuquerque.

Data from S&P Global Market Intelligence shows a total of 1,144 national and regional banks were closed between January 1 and July 31 across 49 states
