Walmart has announced a big change to its products which it hopes will result in better prices for customers. Walmart is important more goods from China.

It's one of several big changes the store is making to its operations, including scrapping self checkout - according to expert predictions. 

The move to scrap self checkouts is said to be inspired by rising theft, despite the fact a former employee revealed staff carry secret devices to stop stealing

Walmart now purchases at least 25 percent of its goods from India in the first half of this year, while reducing imports from China.

The company is importing products such as medication, toys, bicycles, dry goods, packed foods, and pasta from India.

The company's executive vice president of sourcing Andrea Albright said: "We want the best prices. That means I need resiliency in our supply chains.

"I can't be reliant on any one supplier or geography for my product because we're constantly managing things like hurricanes and earthquakes to shortages in raw materials."

Walmart's business relationship appears strong, given CEO Dough McMillion met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May.
