A YouTuber who lives in his minivan has revealed how he manages to keep warm during the winter, when the temperature has reached freezing point.

Life With Anthony is a YouTube channel that documents life inside a campervan, showing viewers how Anthony cooks food, cleans and where he travels on the roads.

In one of his videos, Anthony gives viewers tips on how to stay warm in a vehicle when the temperature is down to nine degrees.

He explained: “I have three layers of insulation on the floor. The first layer is a half-inch plywood that covers the entire space of the floor. On top of that I have reflectix that also covers the entire floor.

And third and not least, at the advice of many of you that said that might tear over time from me walking on it and putting all kinds of things from the outside on top of it, I went ahead and I put a layer of carpet on top of it.”

In the video, Anthony highlighted that the temperature was so low a bottle of Coke he had inside the van had completely frozen.

However, Anthony was able to stay warm thanks to fitting three layers of flooring to his van, which help to stop the cold from getting into the vehicle.

In addition, Anthony recommended that motorists who are staying in a van during winter fit reflective covers to the windows which can help to keep heat in.

Later in the video, Anthony advised that his van also has heating ducts near to where he sleeps, stating that running them for just five minutes helps to warm the cabin up.

He continued: “Now, as for the ceiling, I think that this ceiling has some insulation in it, but this van has four of these little heating ducts in the back of this van and that’s why it makes this van to me a really good one because I don’t have to get out of bed in the mornings, I can grab my keychain, I click my automatic start and the heat starts circulating through these little ducts.

“And the good thing about this van is, when I automatically start it, it will only stay on for about five or six minutes and then it automatically shuts back off. But that’s enough time that this van has warmed up to the point where I can get out of bed.”

Finally, Anthony highlighted the importance of having several layers of blankets, particularly if the viewer does not carry a thick sleeping blanket with them.

He added: “Layers, layers, layers are the key personally for me to feel as warm as possible inside my bed when I’m sleeping at night. So, the first layer I have is my 100 percent wool blanket. I’ve been sleeping on top of that blanket instead of putting it on top of me because the other layers that I have are doing really well and hasn’t given me the need to get underneath this.

“Then I have this gray blanket here on top, and this blanket is really thin, not a lot of substance to it. So I then I lay out this blue electric blanket, kind of like a fleece. It’s actually heavier than my main blanket. And finally, last but not least, I have this red and black blanket that I’ve had with me for a while, nice and thick.”
