Usher set to cash in at Super Bowl set - despite earning nothing for Halftime Show

Usher is joining a growing group of artists who are accepting no money for the Super Bowl Halftime show - though it doesn't mean he won't earn some serious cash

Usher has joined the Super Bowl performers willing to take home nothing for the Halftime Show - but that doesn’t mean he won’t be raking in cash.

The iconic Confessions singer will be taking on the fought-for spot at the Halftime Show at next year’s Super Bowl on February 24.

However, while he may be earning $0, the publicity it stirs could still see him cashing in millions of dollars in extra revenue.

This comes thanks to a major boost in sales and streaming of Usher’s music, with fans rushing to listen to their favorite tracks again, or getting into his songs for the first time.

According to Spotify, this has been a proven success story in the past - with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, who performed together in 2020 as joint headliners, seeing their music shoot up in popularity.

For JLo, that was as high as 335 times more than before the show, with Shakira earning a boost of 230x more.

According to Billboard, their downloads also jumped to 16,000 in a single day, compared to just a 1,000 the day before the NFL game aired.

There’s also an impressive boost in demand for ticket sales - with Usher completing his Las Vegas residency in December this year, before starting one in Paris in 2024.

Usher was announced as the winner of the coveted Halftime spot last year - after rumored performers Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Lizzo turned the spot down.

Prior to the announcement, it was long-assumed that Swift - who is currently dominated the world with her billion-dollar earning Eras Tour - would be taking the lead.

While Usher may be aware he wasn’t everyone’s first choice, it’s been rumored he’s going to make it count with pole-dancers and skaters among the 10-minute routine.

“[He] just wants to set himself apart and make history as one of the greatest performers to hit the world stage,” a source told Page Six.

“Beyoncé, Rihanna, Dr. Dre, Prince and Michael Jackson have all made memorable moments and now that Usher is taking the stage he wants to do something different, unforgettable and over-the-top.”
