US 'at risk of embassy terror attacks' as Biden insiders warn of growing Arab rage

EXCLUSIVE: Attacks on US embassies and infrastructure are possible amid growing fury from Arabs, according to an analyst.

Israel: Joe Biden denounces Hamas assault as 'sheer evil'

Terrorist attacks against US embassies are possible in the current geopolitical climate amid anger in the Arab world towards the US, an analyst has claimed.

Dan Reiter, a political science professor at Emory University, Georgia, has told Daily Express US of a number of scenarios America is facing as a result of growing discontent in the Middle East.

It comes amid increasing pressure on President Joe Biden over his support of Israel amid the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with several hecklers in recent weeks having shouted at him to call for a ‘ceasefire’.

Prof Reiter said: "It’s not surprising that there is such Arab world opposition to US policies.

"That opposition could manifest itself in a number of ways, including anti-American protests, threats against Americans abroad including conceivably violence, destruction of American property abroad, or affiliates of American-owned companies, and so on.

Reiter added that the most likely manifestation of Arab anger on the diplomatic level would be a “pause on public Arab-American cooperation,” in areas such as military base rights, joint training exercises, diplomatic visits, or trade agreements.

Reiter said: “At the limit is the possibility of terrorist attacks against US embassies, US ships based abroad, and other targets.”

According to CNN, White House insiders are briefing the Biden administration on anger towards the US in the Arab world.

The broadcaster, citing a diplomatic cable, says America's strong support for Israel’s deadly military campaign in Gaza “is losing us Arab publics for a generation”.

The Wednesday cable from the US Embassy in Oman warned that support for Israel’s actions is being seen “as material and moral culpability in what they consider to be possible war crimes”.

The expert also said that the US government and military officials should be on high alert to reduce the likelihood “of something like the 1998 bombings of American embassies in Africa”.

The cable from the US Embassy in Oman was written by the second-highest US official in Muscat and sent to the White House’s National Security Council, the CIA, and the FBI.

Another cable obtained by CNN from the US Embassy in Cairo relayed back to Washington commentary in an Egyptian newspaper that read: “President Biden’s cruelty and disregard for Palestinians exceeded all previous US presidents.”

The White House said on Thursday that Israel had agreed to daily four-hour pauses of military operations in areas of northern Gaza.

This comes as US officials warned last week that there has been a jump in hate crimes and the potential for US-based terror attacks.

The Israel-Hamas war has led to both antisemitic and Islamophobic attacks, the officials said, and FBI Director Christopher Wray said that American Jews face an “outrageous distinction of being uniquely targeted” by numerous extremist groups.

The officials also warned that Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel is likely to be motivational for terrorist groups worldwide.

Wray told the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee: “The actions of Hamas and its allies will serve as an inspiration the likes of which we haven’t seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate years ago.

“We also cannot - and do not - discount the possibility that Hamas or another foreign terrorist organization may exploit the current conflict to conduct attacks here on our own soil.

“We’re keeping a close eye on what impact recent events may have on those groups’ intentions here in the United States, and how those intentions might evolve.”
