Tyson Foods is recalling nearly 30,000 pounds (13,600 kilograms) of its breaded chicken "Fun Nuggets" range after a consumer complained about finding metal pieces inside the patties.

The firm issued a "voluntary recall" of the nuggets "out of an abundance of caution" after concerns were raised about the dinosaur-shaped patties.

The nuggets, sold in 29-ounce bags, were produced on September 5 by the Berryville, Arkansas, company.

Tyson has informed the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

USDA said that there had been only one report of a "minor oral injury associated with consumption of this product".

The US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said that they'd received one complaint of an oral injury as a result of the metal shavings, which prompted the recall.

The US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said that they'd received one complaint of an oral injury as a result of the metal shavings, which prompted the recall.

The FSIS has also advised customers to seek a doctor's advice if they're concerned about any additional injuries in the future.

The affected nuggets are the Tyson Fun Nuggets, a popular food among children, which come in shapes like stars and dinosaurs.

Any Fun Nuggets with a use-by date of September 2024 are affected in the recall.

Tyson said in a statement: "A limited number of consumers have reported they found small, pliable metal pieces in the product, and out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling this product."

The company is urging its customers to discard all potentially affected chicken nuggets, and to contact the company to obtain a refund.
