Donald Trump says he does want to be a dictator — just not indefinitely .

At a Republican gala on Saturday, Trump began by complaining about a New York Times reporter.

"[Peter] Baker today in the New York Times said that I want to be a dictator," the former president said, "I didn’t say that. I said I want to be a dictator for one day. You know why I wanted to be a dictator? Because I want a wall, and I want to drill, drill, drill."

A day later, he went on his Truth Social platform to announce that he does not plan to testify at his New York City civil fraud trial Monday.

"I have already testified to everything & have nothing more to say other than this is a complete & total election interference (Biden campaign!) witch hunt," he said.
