‘I found an iPad at Goodwill which sold for $19.99 but costs $200 - it’s a steal!’
Content creators are documenting their thrifting experiences at Goodwill with some finding products which retail for hundreds of dollars.
One man is sharing how he was able to purchase an Apple iPad from Goodwill for only $19.99. Soleleco are content creators who post their experiences of thrifting on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.
They document what deals they come across and the savings they are able to make while shopping. In a recent video titled: “Crazy Find at Goodwill”, Soleleco revealed how they found an iPad that was in between the screen and the keyboard of a laptop.
The content creators explained: “The Goodwill had this computer, right? $19.99. This looks like a regular computer. I’ve just finessed Goodwill. It’s an iPad, they must have not known. Let’s go, it is a steal.”
Other thrifting shoppers have shared their experiences online of finding hidden, extra items attached to their Goodwill purchases. As the non-profit organization takes millions of dollars, there is a chance shoppers could accidentally pick up extra products or cash.
Reacting to comments from viewers, the content creator clarified that this iteration of the Apple product was an iPad 4.
Currently on eBay, this generation of iPad is retailing for as much as $199.99 but prices can vary.
In the comment section of the TikTok clip, the thrifty shopper’s followers reacted to the surprising Goodwill find.
Some were sceptical about the product, suggesting that it may be too outdated to be considered a deal.
Reacting to the iPad, a commenter called WolfofWalgreens shared: “Good price but probably still can’t run new apps sadly.”
Another viewer said: “The Windows people who are really bitter about this are insane. I've been a PC fanboy for days and I'd jump at the chance to get an iPad for £20.”
However, another individual explained: “People in comments don’t know electronics and it shows.
“Apple products hold their value for a long time. Fixed or not that iPad is worth more than $20.”
