The Crown’s Diana star Emma Corrin needed Marvel crash-course for ‘mindf***’ Deadpool role

The up-and-coming star stunned in their breakout role as Princess Diana in The Crown and they'll be taking on an even more high-profile role in an upcoming Marvel blockbuster.

Ryan Reynolds teases Wolverine's return in Deadpool 3

The Crown star Emma Corrin has admitted they weren’t a ‘Marvel person’ before taking on their next role in Deadpool 3.

Corrin’s role has not been disclosed, but they’ll be playing the villain opposite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine.

“I feel really excited to play a villain,” they said. “I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.”

Despite signing on to the highly-anticipated sequel, Corrin admitted they weren’t familiar with most of the Marvel universe until now.

“Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person,” they told Empire. “I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther.

“I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mindf**k.

“All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead… it’s amazing.”

Deadpool 3 could be the most complex entry to the series yet as it’s heavily rumored to crossover with the ongoing MCU.

Set photos have already revealed Jackman donned in Wolverine’s classic yellow comic book costume.

Plus, set pictures of a ruined 20th Century Fox logo and reports of Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra are promising a bonkers superhero adventure.

For now, though, the movie is on hold as both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have brought Hollywood to a standstill.

The Marvel franchise might be in more trouble after the finale of Secret Invasion scored its worst rating yet, though Corrin is still eager to join the fun.

“I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people,” they said.

“It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it.

“Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware and critical of its own inner workings.”
