Taylor Swift speaks out on her sad boat blue dress moment on 1989 (Taylor’s Version)

Real Swifties remember when a photo of Taylor Swift became the meme Sad Taylor.

But, if you are not a Swiftie and may have just jumped on the Swiftie bandwagon – looking at you Travis Kelce fans – a photo of Taylor made the rounds back in 2013 and it quickly went viral.

The picture is of Taylor on a boat in the Virgin Islands wearing a blue dress and black sunglasses.

Taylor looks rather sad in the photo and reports revealed exactly why she would look that way.

The Cruel Summer singer had been vacationing with Harry Styles at the time and they reportedly got into a fight, broke up, and the picture was taken as she was leaving the islands alone.

When Taylor released the music video for 1989’s Out of the Woods in 2015, fans quickly speculated that she was wearing THAT blue dress in the video.

For her part, Taylor never confirmed or denied that the dress in the video was the same dress or a nod to the incident.

But, on her brand new re-recording of 1989 – aka Taylor’s Version – she may have finally addressed the rumors.

On the vault track, Is It Over Now?, Taylor sings, "Blue dress / On a boat / Your new girl / Is my clone,” making fans sure she was referencing the photo in the breakup song.

The song, about a doomed relationship, has several references that could be about her stint with Harry.

Taylor has included vault tracks – songs that have never been released before – on each of her re-recorded albums. The songs didn’t make the final cut for the original album, but were written around the same time.

Despite the break-up and the Sad Taylor meme, the former couple don’t seem to have any animosity towards each other.

The two have been seen interacting twice at the Grammys.

The former One Directioner is now with Canadian actress Taylor Russell.

While Taylor is spending as much time as possible with Travis before she heads out on the South American leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour.
