Taylor Swift donates $1 million to Tennessee residents affected by deadly tornadoes

Over the weekend, Tennessee was hit with a string of severe storms and deadly tornadoes, claiming the lives of at least six people.

Taylor Swift contributed a whopping $1 million in aid to support the residents affected by the storms and tornadoes in Tennessee.

The 22 singer donated to a natural disaster relief after it was reported 13 tornadoes ripped through her hometown leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville confirmed the Clarksville tornado rating as an EF-3, with winds of 150 mph, and the Madison/Hendersonville/Gallatin tornado with a preliminary rating of EF-2, and winds of 125 mph.

It was reported that at least 15 middle Tennessee counties were impacted by the brutal disaster.

As the Weather Service reported Clarksville, Madison, Hendersonville, Gallatin, and Springfield were hit hardest.

The tornado and strong thunderstorms left at least six people dead, more than 50 injured, multiple buildings destroyed, and power outages.

On Monday, it was first reported that Taylor funded the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

The community foundation’s CEO, Hal Cato then confirmed the 33-year-old’s contribution to the organization, which she has donated to in the past.

Taylor’s contribution will help those affected with financial assistance, food, temporary housing, debris clean-up, and animal sheltering.

More than 35,000 residents of Tennessee were reported to have been affected by power outages as well as buildings structurally damaged by the storm.

Taylor had previously donated to the organization in 2020 when the place she considers home was affected by tornadoes.

Alongside a link she shared at the time, the singer added: “Nashville is my home and the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me.”

As well as owning offices and a luxury penthouse condo in the city, the billionaire also owns a $2.5 million mansion she purchased for her parents in 2011.
