All the Taylor Swift and Harry Styles songs written about their doomed romance

Taylor Swift released her eagerly awaited 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on Friday, marking the fourth of her intended six re-recordings.

With the addition of five exclusive tracks "from the vault," speculation among fans is making them question whether some lyrics allude to her previous relationship with Harry Styles.

The song Is It Over Now? is a pop ballad where Swift reflects on the challenges of navigating a breakup under the spotlight.

Lyrics like “And did you think I didn't see you? / There were flashin’ lights,” suggest the pressures of a public relationship.

Hints that the song could be referring to Styles are found throughout, especially in the second verse with lyrics including: “When you lost control / Red blood, white snow,” mirror the 1989 track Out Of The Woods where Swift refers to a snowmobile accident, which was later confirmed in a 2014 Rolling Stone interview.

Styles was seen with a bandage around the time of the reported accident, though neither have ever spoken about him actually being involved.

Swift also mentions a “blue dress on a boat.” This could relate to a 2013 trip to the Virgin Islands when Swift and Styles reportedly ended their relationship.

At the time, Swift was photographed in a royal blue dress sitting on the back of the yacht.

Backtracking just a year prior, In November 2012, amid intensifying dating rumors, Harry Styles, 18, praised 22-year-old Taylor Swift in a Seventeen magazine profile about One Direction.

Describing the You Belong With Me artist, Styles commented: "She’s a genuine and wonderful person. Some might disappoint in real life, but she surpasses expectations."

While Swift has never explicitly admitted to writing about the former One Direction member, she has dropped hints in the past.

After the original 1989 release, she mentioned to Rolling Stone that the song Style could've been named I’m Not Even Sorry.

In a 2014 appearance on The Morning Show, she remarked that Style was about unfinished relationships.

Styles acknowledged in an interview that year that writing from personal experiences is universal, praising Swift's songwriting talents.

It is suspected by fans that the 2015 hit song by One Direction, Perfect, is about Swift, with lyrics like “If you like flashing cameras every time we go out / If you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about / Baby we’re perfect.”

The two stars, linked in late 2012 and parting ways in early 2013, seem to have maintained a cordial relationship, often seen conversing at award ceremonies.

Swift has since been associated with stars like Tom Hiddleston, Calvin Harris, Joe Alwyn, and recently Travis Kelce.

Styles was last connected to Olivia Wilde until their 2022 split and was seen with Taylor Russell in London this year.
