Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley is out of hospital after a terrifying rush to the emergency room with pneumonia.

The Rhythms singer, 43, was rushed to hospital on the eve of his eighth anniversary with his wife Ariana, 32 - with his spouse posting a worrying update on Instagram

While it was initially feared he may have had heart failure, Ari has now posted a positive update from their home to confirm he was now on the road to recovery.

Alongside a photograph of their mantlepiece - adorned with pictures of the family as well as a bowl of roses, Ari wrote: “I'm very happy to be giving this update.

“Deryck was discharged after responding so well to his treatments. He is now under the care of his mother who is a registered nurse and myself.”

“The pressure and strain on his heart and lungs has improved and he is able to breathe without as much pain,” she continued.

“I can't tell you how truly grateful we are for the community around us. We knew we had support but the outpouring of love for our family has been absolutely overwhelming and we can't begin to say how much it has meant to us and helped us stay positive through this.”

In the previous message, Ariana had stated that his hospitalization had ‘brought back really difficult memories’ seeing him in a hospital bed.

In 2014, Deryck was rushed to hospital by Ariana after collapsing in his kitchen after his liver and kidneys failed.

After being sedated and placed into a medically induced coma at the time, the Deryck was finally woken after a week.

The life-or-death scare encouraged him and his wife to both get sober for the sake of their health.

Ariana has previously been open about her own struggle with depression and a previous suicide attempt.

The medical scare comes just weeks before Deryck and Sum 41 are due to play some of their last ever shows before going their separate ways.

Announcing their break-up after 27 years together back in May, the band - whose hits include In Too Deep, Fat Lip and Pieces - said the upcoming tour dates would be their last.

Ending with a performance in Mansfield, Massachusetts on September 3, the group were enjoying a month off before their final two performances at the end of October.

They have been confirmed as part of the ‘ultimate emo’ line-up at Las Vegas’s When We Were Young festival on October 21 and 22.
