Americans could be entitled to a sizable stimulus check worth $250 depending on where they live.

Some stimulus checks are administered via the Government, for example during the pandemic.

However, other payments come from the private sector either in the way of financial support or through settlements.

Across the United States, stimulus programs are being rolled out that offer working households extra assistance.

Some households in Ohio could be eligible for a one-time payment thanks to a $49million settlement.

What is the $250 stimulus check?

Residents in Ohio could be entitled to this payment if they were affected by a certain “racketeering scheme”.

Energy firms Toledo Edison Cleveland Electric and Ohio Edison have been accused by plaintiffs of attempting to pass a state bill that would have led to customers paying more.

Specifically, the bill would have forced some residents to pay “excessive” fees, based on the settlement details.

Following the case, both FirstEnergy and its spinoff firm Energy Harbor agreed on the settlement cash.

Any residents who made payments to either company between January 1, 2020 and June 22, 2022 are entitled to this check.

Those eligible for this $250 settlement deal should receive an email with a payment link to complete the transaction.

However, if someone received an email but would prefer to get the stimulus check in the mail, they can pick a different payment option.

If anyone believes they are entitled to this support but did not get a digital payment or mailed check by the end of August, they must email the Settlement administrator at info@OhioElectricityLitigation.com.

What other stimulus checks are available?

Palm Springs in California is currently trying out a new Universal Basic Income pilot scheme for those on low incomes who are facing racial or gender inequality.

Thanks to this scheme, claimants will get $800 a month over an 18-month period which started on May 15.

This program was created in collaboration with two Coachella Valley non-profits - Queer Works and DAP Health.

Among the qualifying criteria to get this regular stimulus check were claimants having an income limit of no higher than $16,000 a higher.
