The 40-year-old is best known for her role as a young Superman's close friend in Smallville until 2011.

The actress, who pleaded guilty to charges that she manipulated women into becoming sex slaves for NXIVM leader Keith Raniere in 2019, has reportedly been released early.

Allison, who began serving a three-year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, in September 2021, was released on Monday, according to federal prison records.

According to AP, the Federal Bureau of Prisons records show Mack was released from prison in California on Monday.

The actress avoided a longer sentence because she cooperated with authorities in bringing Raniere down, who was sentenced to a 120-year prison term.

Allison helped prosecutors mount evidence showing how Raniere created a secret society that included brainwashed women who were branded with his initials and forced to have sex with him.

She went on to court to attack the cult leader Raniere and expressed "remorse and guilt" before her sentencing in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

Days before her sentencing, the star issued an apology to her victims.

It read: "It is now of paramount importance for me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry.

"I threw myself into the teachings of Keith Raniere with everything I had. I believed, wholeheartedly, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself."

Mack added in the letter obtained by The Hollywood Reporter: "I devoted my loyalty, my resources, and, ultimately, my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and regret of my life.

"I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man. I am sorry that I encouraged you to use your resources to participate in something that was ultimately so ugly.

"I do not take lightly the responsibility I have in the lives of those I love and I feel a heavy weight of guilt for having misused your trust, leading you down a negative path."

Allison earned a name for herself in Smallville, playing Chloe Sullivan, the best friend of a young Clar Kent in Smallville.

The series ran from 2001 to 2011 and earned the actress two Teen Choice Awards and multiple TV award nominations.

It was while filming for Smallville that she attended her first NXIVM meeting back in 2007.

Raniere had started NXIVM in the 1990s in Albany as a purported self-improvement group that then expanded across the country.

It first became known for its 'Executive Success Program' courses, which purported to give students the ability to achieve their goals in life by overcoming mental blocks.

Prosecutors say the secret society was composed of brainwashed female "slaves" who were blackmailed into having sex with him, following dangerously restrictive diets, and being branded with his initials.
