Zachary Levi has shocked with his comments on

He's criticized his industry for releasing "garbage" films even though he's been a part of some of the most head-scratching movies.

The Shazam! actor was at the Chicago Fan Expo this weekend when he gave his questionable opinions.

Levi, who is the star of one of the year's biggest flops (Shazam! 2), urged fans to "actively not choose" bad movies.

He also voiced his support for the writers' and actors' strikes while also expressing his frustration with the industry in general.

The 42-year-old said: "I personally feel like the amount of content that comes out of Hollywood that is garbage — they don't care enough to actually make it great for you guys. They don't.

"How many times do you watch a trailer and go, 'Oh my God, this looks so cool!' Then you go to the movie and it's like, 'This was what I get?' They know that once you've already bought the ticket and you're in the seat, they've got your money."

He added: "And the only way for us to change any of it is to not go to the garbage. We have to actively not choose the garbage. It'll help. It'll help a lot."

It appears that fans have been doing what Levi said for years now and it's nearly detroyed the franchise he's apart of, the DCEU.

Both the franchise's Shazam! 2 and Black Adam flopped.

However, Levi claims fans loved his sequel; it was the critics who crushed it.

He speculated the future of the Shazam! franchise, bemoaning the critical reception to the sequel.

According to Entertainment Weekly, last month, after blamming the movie's marketing, Levi said: "The audience score is still quite good, but the critics' score was, I don't know, very oddly and perplexingly low, and people were insanely unkind. Listen, I've been a part of things and as much as I wish that they were good, I know that they're okay, I know they missed a lot.

He added: "I'm not saying Shazam! Fury of the Gods is some perfect Orson Welles masterpiece, but it's a good darn movie."

Audiences did give Shazam! 2 a 86 percent rating, while critics rated it at 49 percent.

Still, the sequel only made $57.6 million domestically.
