Selena Gomez caught on camera at VMAs as fans praise 'relatable' reaction to Chris Brown

Selena Gomez is trending after a string of her "relatable" and "hilarious" reactions at the Video Music Awards were caught on-camera, including her "stank face" to Chris Brown's nomination.

Selena Gomez was caught on camera multiple times last night as she attended the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards

While the usual live broadcast focused on the stage and winners, MTV’s POV camera shared special insights and behind-the-scenes looks at the star-studded evening including a live video feed coming from the celebrity audience as they watched the show unfold.

Taylor Swift began picking up some traction on the feed as she was seen enjoying herself during Stray Kids’ performance but Selena proved to be the ultimate scene stealer with her iconic reaction to winners and nominees.

When controversial artist Chris Brown was named as one of the nominees the Best R&B Award, for his role on Chloe Bailey’s hit song How Does It Feel, the 30-year-old scrunched her face in disgust.

Selena threw her eyes to the floor in a look of disappointment before quickly replacing her gleeful smile when the next nominee was announced.

As the clip made its way onto social media, X users quickly branded the Single Soon artist “the real one” for her “relatable” look.

One fan took a screenshot at the pivotal moment, captioning the snap: “The stank face? she’s so real for that.”

A second claimed: “The Queen queened at the VMAs.”

A handful of viewers pointed out the “sort of connection” they claimed to spot between Selena and her music collaborator Rema as the pair later took to the stage to accept the Best Afrobeats Award for their track Calm Down.

Later in the evening, Selena’s candid reactions started earning her some criticism as some claimed she was “throwing shade” at Olivia Rodrigo’s performance.

As the 20-year-old launched into the quick first verse of her new single Vampire, the Wolves singer was seen plugging her ear as she looked at her fellow former Disney star with concern.

The Only Murders in the Building actress kept her hand over her ear throughout the entire performance, even when Olivia took a brief break from the microphone as the stage crumbled around her in reference to her Vampire music video
