With food prices soaring, saving money on groceries is pertinent. Outside of gathering coupons, there are other ways you can save money on meats and poultry when you’re out purchasing items for your next meal prep. A money-savvy mom has shared how you can spend less on meats when shopping at retail giant Walmart.

Starting off her TikTok video Angie (@frugal_angie) said: “So this morning before I went to work I went to Walmart. They open at 7AM and I was in the door at 7:05. I was looking for markdowns, in especially the meat department and in the deli area.”

She showed what she found, which included two packs of super extra lean ground beef, both on sale for $4.28. She saved $2.20 on each pack.

She also picked up a pork picnic roast which was originally $17.79, but purchased by the mom for $7.09. In addition, she got two packs of center-cut pork chops with three in each pack. One pack was $4.01 while the other pack was $3.71.

She said that you should go as soon as the store opens in order to score markdowns.

“I know it’s hard sometimes to find the time to save the money, but you’ve got to know the tricks of the trade and go in right when the grocery store first opens.

“Especially on a Monday. From over the weekend, you’re going to find markdowns, you’re going to save a lot of money,” she finished off.

She saved $32 in total.

People left their comments on her findings.

“You scored!” one person wrote.

Another said: “That's great, thank you for sharing.”

A third chimed in: “This is the way I have to shop, great deals!”

And one skeptical person wrote: “It’s usually because it’s expired but as long as you freeze it it should be fine.”

To which the content creator responded: “They aren’t expired. Its best by date was the day I bought them. Meat is generally ok for a few days also. I’ve been doing this for years.”
