Rudy Giuliani, the ex-New York mayor and former personal lawyer of Donald Trump, has weighed in on the debate of whether or not Meghan Markle could make a run for the White House.

The Duchess of Sussex has become more politically vocal in the years since she and husband Prince Harry quit their roles within the British Royal Family.

While members of the Firm, Meghan was expected to remain silent on political issues - something she had spoken more openly about in the years before she began a relationship with Harry.

But with the shackles of Buckingham Palace no longer looming heavy over her, some have speculated that a possible move into politics could be the next step for Meghan.

Speaking on GB News, Giuliani outlined what he thought the future held for 42-year-old Meghan.

He said: "I don’t see it. But look, I should shut up, you never know in America. It seems unlikely but not impossible.

"American politics is very unpredictable and it’s getting more that way."

Meghan has previously been quiet about her political ambitions but has waded into debates on the topic in recent years - including endorsing Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Opinion polls also show she could fare well were she to go up against Democratic Party contenders in a primary election.

According to the Democracy Institute of Democratic voters in Washington, around 25 percent of those polled said Meghan would be the best for the job when faced with a list of female rivals.

She came in joint place alongside Kamala Harris, the current vice president.

The pair were followed by Hillary Clinton, who famously lost the 2016 election to Trump.

But Trump has been among some politicians to pour cold water on any move from Meghan to get involved in politics.

The former president and businessman said Meghan was "divisive" and "misogynistic" but said he would "love to debate" her.

He added: "Let’s go do something. I’d love to debate her. I would love it."
