Hackney Diamonds was their first studio album with new songs since the death of their drummer Charlie Watts in August 2021.

Watts died at the age of 80 at a hospital in London, England, surrounded by family.

His cause of death has never been officially stated, but guitarist Keith Richards stated in an interview in 2022 he had been hit with a 'double whammy' of cancer.

While he was able to beat his first bout of throat cancer in 2004, later talking about it publicly, further information on his final condition isn't known.
