Red Bull boss makes F1 admission after Max Verstappen's record-breaking season

Formula One's 2023 season was dominated by Max Verstappen and Red Bull, but Christian Horner has admitted it's unlikely they'll achieve the same success again.

Christian Horner, the boss of Red Bull, has given hope to F1 title rivals after a record-breaking season. The 2023 Formula One season saw Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominate the competition with an unprecedented campaign. However, Horner has confessed that repeating such success is unlikely, giving other racing teams a glimmer of hope.

Verstappen had an incredible run last season, winning 19 out of 22 races and securing his third World Championship title.

As a team, Red Bull won 21 out of the 22 races, with Sergio Perez also finishing ahead of his teammate twice. Verstappen's season was statistically the best ever, racking up a record 575 points. He secured the title with several races to spare and was a whopping 290 points ahead of second-placed Perez.

Mercedes finished second in the Constructors Championship, just ahead of Ferrari. Both teams are eager to close the gap with Red Bull next season. Despite the odds, Horner's words have given them some optimism.

"It's been a remarkable season for us," Horner admitted at FIA's prize-giving gala in Baku. "None of us could have ever imagined this kind of season that we've just completed.

"To win 21 of the 22 races, five out of six sprint races. Defend both titles, and break many records along the way - some that have stood since 1988. I think it epitomises every aspect of the team that has been performing at a phenomenal level."

Verstappen is a wizard behind the wheel, but Horner also praised every department for keeping the perfect car as the Dutchman managed to finish every race without any mechanical hitches.

"It's not just the design of the car, the operation of the car, it's the production, it's the support function, it's every single department across the different challenges, circuits or conditions we've had over the course of the year," he added.

"Reliability, Honda as well, gave us a great product for the year. It's a combination of all those aspects that have come together that has been the most gratifying team performance. I doubt we will be able to achieve again, statistically what we've done this year."

If Verstappen doesn't win, McLaren's Lando Norris is tipped to take the Drivers' Championship in 2024. Verstappen is the clear favourite with Betway at 2/7, but Norris is next priced at 13/2, with Lewis Hamilton third at 12/1.
