Prince William shows off his 'naughty sense of humor' that he 'inherited' from Diana

EXCLUSIVE: Prince William is being his most authentic self, and there's a reason why, says To Di For Daily host Kinsey Schofield.

Prince William has been quite funny at his recent engagements, delivering dad jokes, sharing his favorite NSFW emoji and taking part in a magic trick, all in one week, and there's a reason why, says To Di For Daily host Kinsey Schofield.

Schofield told Daily Express US that he inherited his “naughty sense of humor” from his mother, the late Princess Diana, and he now has the "freedom" to be his authentic self, having proven himself reliable.

Schofield explains: “Perhaps when taking on the additional responsibility of being the immediate heir, he was given permission to really be himself. Translation, perhaps he played a different role for Queen Elizabeth II and the men in gray suits, but he has more freedom today.”

Schofield explained how this plays a role in the future of the monarchy, by sharing an anecdote about Princess Diana.

She added: “Princess Diana used to crack her friends up by picking out the most salacious cards to drop in the post.

"She would even sneak them into Prince William’s mail off at school. Diana had a fantastic and naughty sense of humor that I think Prince William has inherited. He really is a joy.”

It goes beyond temperament, says Schofield.

She added: “I do believe that Prince William and the Princess of Wales’ importance to the monarchy has been clearly communicated and part of that is their authenticity. There are elements of 'modernizing the monarchy' within their sincerity.”

Schofield considers the change a "breath of fresh air", which reminds her "of a young Diana on the scene."

Schofield provides an example of Princess Kate being more relaxed at engagements and why.

She said: “There was the scene in which a child tickled the Princess of Wales recently, she jumped and giggled, and the now famous heart hands photo. I do think someone is advising them saying, 'You got where you are, popularity-wise, through being genuine.' They are being encouraged to act authentically because people respond well to them.”

The To Di for Daily host believes the directives are coming from the Firm, saying: “I do suspect that someone behind the scenes, maybe even the King has said, 'Go for it!' And given them permission to fly.”

Schofield shares her appreciation for the royal couple and the shift we're seeing: “I don't believe we are seeing an act. I am confident that we are being given more access to who they really are and they are really quite likable.”
