‘Speaking to Americans I can see why they prefer William over Harry,’ says ROBERT JOBSON

Harry's popularity slumps to a new low in US, and speaking to Americans I can see why, says Robert Jobson.

When his brother labeled him a violent bully over the brotherly “dog bowl" spat in his book ‘Spare’ some said Prince William would take a hit in the popularity polls.

Remember the drama: War hero Prince Harry claimed he was floored by his big brother after a row erupted over bullying claims made against Meghan.

The royal brothers’ relationship went downhill fast after that. But far from painting Big Will as the villain, his stature has soared in the States, which H calls home.

Surprisingly a new Gallup poll puts The Prince of Wales as America’s most popular public figure ahead of ex-President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.

Even King Charles come out ahead of Harry in the U.S. where his popularity rating has dropped 48 points in the United States since December 2022.

William is due back in New York in a few weeks (18/19 September) for the Earthshot innovation summit where this year’s 15 ‘trailblazing’ finalists will be unveiled.

He will also undertake several engagements in the city too.

I was in the Big Apple last week for a visit and whenever I raised the subject of Harry native New Yorkers felt he’d made himself look daft over claims of a 'near catastrophic car chase' involving 'highly aggressive' paparazzi.

Even the Yellow cab driver Sukhcharn Singh who picked up ‘the Markles’ from another award bash, dismissed claims that it was dangerous.

“Have they ever been to New York? It’s impossible to go that fast in the city.” My taxi driver told me (what I already knew).

Meanwhile, Harry’s popularity has slumped to an all-time low in the UK with almost two-thirds of those polled by You Gov (64 percent) admitting they hold a negative view of him, with his support among the 18-24 age group falling to its lowest ever score.

Perhaps both royals should take a leaf from his dad’s book for their own sanity and not take too much notice.

For the King once told me: “Polls mean nothing to me.”

He then looked me straight in the eye and added: “You see, I’m in it for the long term.”

It seems to have worked for him.

Robert Jobson is a royal expert who regularly appears on live television news bulletins and in historical documentaries.
