Prince Harry and Meghan Markle taking 'secret steps' to avoid chaos on New York City trip

Harry and Meghan's last trip to New York City did not go to plan, but they're going to try again.

Meghan Markle's social media return discussed by expert

Prince Harry has spoken openly about his struggles with mental health. He and his wife Meghan Markle are teaming up to help others who suffer from the same affliction and will be in NYC tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10, co-hosting 'The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in a Digital Age’, which lands on World Mental Health Day.

In an attempt to cut down on struggles in general, Harry and Meghan will take extra precautions going into their trip to NYC, says PR expert Mayah Riaz.

In May, Harry and Meghan were reportedly pursued by paparazzi, which they claimed led to a car chase through Manhattan. They appear to be taking steps to avoid the same thing happening again.

Riaz spoke to The Mirror about what that could mean: "Ahead of Harry and Meghan's New York trip, they'll likely to be thinking of their last trip and the paparazzi car chase. Therefore, they will no doubt be taking certain measures along with their security and PR teams for a smooth trip.

"Firstly, they would have already established a comprehensive security plan. This would involve assessing potential risks and implementing measures to mitigate them."

Riaz has ideas on how to tighten up security, including  "securing safe transportation and coordinating with the New York Police Department." Harry has flown commercial before, but this time around, he may opt for private.

Harry and Meghan will need a strong team once they arrive in NYC, with Riaz talking about the hiring process: "In order to minimize risks, they will ensure the driver(s) will have experience in handling high profile individuals. Media managing will be crucial too, given the couple's high profile status.”

She also talks about who will be invited to meet with Harry and Meghan.

Riaz added: "I would imagine Harry and Meghan’s PR team have already established clear guidelines for media access to the couple. This will have ensured that only authorized and vetted media professionals are granted access to them.”

While their last trip to NYC could be deemed traumatic, Riaz applauds the royal couple for not being scared off, saying: “It's great to see that Meghan and Harry are returning to New York after the car chase incident after their last trip. This shows that they are not wanting precious incidents to hold them back from supporting causes close to their heart. It would also be a support for them having each other at the event.”

At the event, the Sussexes will speak to parents about navigating mental health in the digital world, focusing on social media. The Project for Healthy Minds page reads: "Join NBC's Carson Daly and parents for a discussion on building community and creating positive change for a safer online world for young people, with special guests Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy."

In the UK, Prince William and Princess Kate will be hosting an event the same day, for the same cause, entitled: Exploring our Emotional Worlds. Kensington Palace released a statement, saying, the event "will bring together 100 young delegates nominated by ten leading mental health and youth engagement charities to start a conversation about how they manage their emotions and how they can be supported to build their resilience and protective factors such as healthy relationships which make it easier to navigate bumps in the road as they go through life."
