Prince Harry was ‘born into media’ and now he gets to ‘control his own narrative’

EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry grew up in the public eye and, at this point, it's all he knows, a royal commentator says.

King Charles will be 'sad' Harry won't meet him says expert

Prince Harry benefits from being "born into media" because it means he is able to "control his own narrative", according to a royal expert.

Brooke Siffrinn, co-host of the popular Even the Royals podcast, told Daily Express US Meghan calls the shots in the relationship as the "Type A personality", also describing their relationship as "super sweet".

The pair stepped back from their roles in the British Royal Family as senior working royals in 2020, striking a number of high-profile media deals as they moved stateside.

This included multimillion pound deal with Netflix, the release of Harry's best-selling autobiography Spare and a short-lived deal with Spotify. There is now talk of a possible deal with  Audible.

And this is of great benefit to Harry on multiple fronts, Siffrinn argues.

She said: “For Harry, I feel like he was born into media, but in a different way, and so maybe this is a way for him to, in a way, control his own narrative in a way that he didn’t get to control before.

"So, the podcast and him writing his book, it’s a way for him to tell his own story, that he didn’t really feel like he got to tell growing up, I feel like he was just thrusted into the media and he didn’t really have a choice."

The Duke has a background in the military, serving in the Army, and could have pursued a number of career paths, but he decided on writing, podcasting and entrepreneurialism.

We asked Brooke, “What do you think motivates Harry and Meghan? Is it a strong work ethic? Is it about finances?” with Brooke landing on “both”.

We're curious who “wears the pants” in the family, for example making decisions behind closed doors, even something as simple as what to have for dinner. Brooke’s vote on that is… Meghan.

She explains her reasoning: “I do feel like Meghan is kind of the Type A personality, more than Harry, and Harry is just really supportive and is ride or die for her, and, I love that, I think that’s super sweet. They have a really good dynamic, like maybe Meghan is the Type A and he’s kind of like just the supportive, ride or die and I think that’s really sweet, actually.”

The pop culture aficinado explains what she means by that, saying: “It’s probably a mix of both. They are obviously accustomed to a lifestyle, but I think Meghan also, especially, started out working and that’s a lot of the reason they’re in California. She started in showbiz, and I think that’s what she knows, and where she’s comfortable, whether or not she’s doing so much of that now, I know their Spotify show got canceled, but I think for her, that was kind of a natural transition, kind of get back into media a little bit, get back to America.”

Looking in from the outside, Harry could have gone into a number of fields, for example military, so we asked: “Why entertainment?”

Brooke hits the nail on the head, as she's spoken about this topic on her Even the Rich podcast, and it's fresh in her mind, saying: “It’s a way for him to tell his own story, that he didn’t really feel like he got to tell growing up.”

Brooke makes such a good point, that things have changed for Meghan and it would be difficult to go from working actress to working royal, back to working actress. She reinforces the sentiment, saying: “There’s such a spectacle around her now, it just wouldn’t be the same. It would probably be less enjoyable, to be honest.”

When asked about Meghan being bit by the acting bug, if it goes away, Brooke said: “No, no. Just to be in the media in some way is kind of ingrained in her.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made clear that their favorite role will always be raising their two children: Archie, four, and Lilibet, two, with whom they live in ultra-trendy Montecito, California.

Meghan has described being a mom as "most important thing in [her] entire life".
