Prince Harry set for 'momentous occasion' with Meghan Markle still by his side - Comment

Good luck to Harry as he launches his latest Invictus Game in Germany next month with wife Meghan at his side. 

I’ve attended most of them, and the work Army veteran Harry has put into the project is immense and captures hearts.

For those taking part – wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans - it challenges them mentally and physically, changing their lives for the better.

Let’s hope he can continue to get the interest and much-needed sponsorship and support from international governments for this worthy project. 

In a video message recorded in LA, Harry said, “It’ll be the best games ever'. He also praised competitors for taking the next step on their 'healing journey', and insisted that the event, which he called a 'home for respect', is part of his own.

“I hope you are excited and probably a bit nervous. I’m both. But I can’t wait to see all of you and have the whole community together once again. It’s been too long’.

Addressing the athletes, he said: ‘You’re all on different parts of your healing journey’ before adding: ‘We all are – we always will be’.

‘Good luck for the remaining few weeks, have fun, look forward to it. 

In total 21 nations are taking part this year in Dusseldorf between September 9 to 16.

William in hot water after skipping Australia

Just when Prince William looked like getting everything right, he is now in hot over failing to back 'the Lionesses’ – the England Women’s Football team.

He has been slammed by critics for failing to turn up for the Women’s World Cup Final in Sydney, Australia when they take on Spain this weekend (Sunday), even though football – England’s national game – comes under his remit.

There is no doubt that if Harry Kane and England’s men had made it to the World Cup final he would have been there, wherever it was being played on the planet.

The Spanish the Royal Spanish Football Federation has confirmed that their Queen Letizia and her 16-year-old daughter Infanta Sofia would go to the final.

The Spanish monarch is said to be King Felipe is busy with other official duties and will not be joining them, it said in a statement. Fair enough, the Spanish royals have for it spot on.

Wouldn’t this have been the ideal chance for William, the President of the Football Association, who was hugging the players when they won the European championship and handing out the medals, to be seen cheering our girls on again?

Maybe Princess Charlotte could have gone with him on a dad/daughter break Down Under? They could have taken in the sights in a country where he will one day – as it stands – be king.

After all, the entire family did turn out for the final at the tennis Wimbledon tennis championship and his has been spotted another occasion with his son George cheering on his beloved Aston Villa.

Theis no doubt the Royal PR gurus missed a trick when this World Cup tournament was organised in the distant past, by pushing for a short tour to coincide with the tournament.

When England played Australia in the semi-final the stadium was packed, and it will be again for the final. This is another example of Britain’s royals now being thinly spread – without Harry and Meg – but also lacking flexibility.

For all the talk of a slimmed down modern monarchy, there just aren’t enough of them - with disgraced Andrew off the official diary too - to carry out all the duties, especially when something rare and unexpected happens, like a England team doing well in a sporting competition happens.

I’m sure William is making the most of quality time with his family this summer whilst they are on school holidays. He’s a good dad and works hard all year round.

I’m sure too the last thing he wants is jet lag from a short First-Class flight to Australia.

But the message it would have sent to all the young girls aspiring to play England’s national game – that they matter just as much as the boys - would have been huge.
