Prince George made a surprise appearance at the Rugby World Cup with dad Prince William in France as the royals watched the match with excitement.

The young royal was seen smiling as he stood with the Prince of Wales.

The match marks a royal first for the ten-year-old, as it's his first time travelling overseas to watch a game.

William and George arrived at Stade de Marseille with both wearing navy suits and red ties – the latter seemingly a patriotic nod to the Welsh side.

While George's mother, the Princess of Wales, supports the England rugby side as the patron of the Rugby Football Union, George, by attending the Wales game, appears to have made his loyalties clear.

In an adorable father-son moment, Prince William appeared to explain the game to his young son.

Royal fans went crazy after they spotted him at the match.

One of the users tweeted: "Such a lovely surprise!!! Still amazed that they both went given the circumstances though."

Another one tweeted: "Family time and sportin’ quite a fancy look."

A third user said: "I just hope we seem them tomorrow since they seem to have the time to watch a rugby match."

In February last year, George stood between his parents as they watched England play Wales in the Six Nations, but was undecided on who to support.

Wales are taking on Argentina in the first quarter-final of this year’s World Cup, with the winner competing against Ireland or New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup 2023 semi-finals.
