Pink made a bold statement at her first Florida concert on Wednesday evening by giving away 1,000 books banned in the state.

The So What singer decided to make the powerful gesture as her TRUSTFALL tour arrived in Miami.

She's teaming up with PEN America, a free expression advocacy group, to distribute copies of books that have been banned in Florida schools.

In a press release, Pink explained why she decided to take part in this giveaway, and said: "Books have held a special joy for me from the time I was a child, and that's why I am unwilling to stand by and watch while books are banned by schools."

"It's especially hateful to see authorities take aim at books about race and racism and against LGBTQ authors and those of color," she added.

"We have made so many strides toward equality in this country and no one should want to see this progress reversed," the Who Knew singer continued.

"This is why I am supporting PEN America in its work and why I agree with them: no more banned books."

Recently, new laws limiting free speech in schools were introduced in the Sunshine State.

These include the controversial "Don't Say Gay" bill passed by Governor Ron DeSantis, which stops teachers from talking about sexual orientation and gender identity in primary schools.

The state also approved the Individual Freedom Act, which limits how discrimination and systemic racism are taught.

Teachers who don't make sure their classroom's books meet DeSantis's rules could face up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine for showing a banned book, which is a serious crime, according to The Nation.

To protest against these new laws, Pink has chosen a variety of books that directly discuss these topics. These include The Family Book by Todd Parr, Beloved by Toni Morrison, and The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman.

Fans were all for it as she announced the giveaway on Instagram, as one wrote: "Why don't I see people talking about this subject more often? So glad that we have outspoken artists like you that fight for what matters. This is great."

Another chimed in: "This work is so important against the minority who are perpetuating this. As an author and a teacher, I can't stress how important this is. The books you mentioned shaped me as a human growing up."

While a third fan added: "This is unbelievable, thank you for your incredible work. I read many of these books and can't believe they are banned."
