New York chaos as Penn Station shut down by thousands of pro-Palestine protestors

Protestors with the 'Shut It Down for Palestine' group, who are demanding an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, have blocked a number of roads and subway stations in New York City.

Thousands of protesters have swarmed Pennsylvania Station in - causing chaos on the streets.

The 'Shut It Down for Palestine' group, who are demanding an immediate ceasefire in in the war between and have reportedly converged with two other protests on 8th Avenue.

The entrance to Penn Station has now been blocked and officers from the NYPD's Strategic Response Group were forced to rush to shut all the doors.

This comes on the same day that pro-Palestinian protesters blockaded BNY Mellon's headquarters due to their connections to another company that provides Israel weapons.

Outside Penn Station, some protestors are chanting "Free Palestine" and "resistance is justified when people are colonized".

Some people have climbed up on top of the station while waving Palestine flags.

NYPD’s SRG has shut down all surrounding subway stations along with entrances to Moynihan train hall across the street.

Earlier today, pro-Palestinian protesters blocked the entrance to Bank of New York Mellon Corp, reportedly due to the investment bank's shares in Elbit Systems.

The latter company provides the Israel Defense Forces with technology and weapons.

Unconfirmed reports on social media said the NYPD had begun arresting people while photos and videos from the scene suggest a heavy police presence in the area.

Pictures of the protesters posted to social media show signs which read "This place is shut down for Palestine today" and "Death to the IDF".

Video purportedly from the scene showed police dragging away protesters from the front of the investment bank.

The Israel-based Defense company Elbit Systems provides the IDF with weapons and technology and has vowed to " stand by our nation in times of need" following Hamas's unprecedented terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.

The war has opened up huge divisions in the West with hundreds of thousands of individuals taking to the streets in support of both Israel and Palestine.
