Oppenheimer has finally landed today (July 21) and moviegoers are prepped and primed to watch the film, which is slated to be one of the biggest blockbusters this summer alongside Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan is known for attracting big names to his projects and Oppenheimer is no different with a whole host of Hollywood A-listers making up the cast.

Here’s a rundown of the main cast, who they play and where you may have seen them before.

Who is in the cast of Oppenheimer?

J. Robert Oppenheimer - Cillian Murphy

Cillian Murphy takes on the lead as acclaimed nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer with the movie marking his sixth collaboration with director Christopher Nolan.

Irish star Murphy is best known for his turn as Tommy Shelby in TV series Peaky Blinders as well as roles in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, 28 Days Later, Inception and Red Eye.

Kitty Oppenheimer - Emily Blunt

English actress Emily Blunt is Oppenheimer's wife Kitty Oppenheimer with the couple having a strained marriage as she accompanied him to the desert for Project Manhattan.

Blunt is no stranger to screens with parts in Young Victoria, The Devil Wears Prada, and A Quiet Place with Oppenheimer marking another collaboration with Murphy from A Quiet Place Part II and Matt Damon, who was her co-star on The Adjustment Bureau.

Jean Tatlock - Florence Pugh

British star Florence Pugh takes on the role of psychiatrist and Oppenheimer's lover Jean Tatlock with the couple having a torrid affair.

Pugh is known for her roles in The Falling, Lady Macbeth, Don't Worry Darling, Midsommar and Little Women.

Damon's most recent credits include Thor: Love and Thunder, The Last Duel, Stillwater and Air.

Ernest Lawrence - Josh Hartnett

Josh Harnett stars as Berkley physicist Ernest Lawrence with the actor most recently appearing in Black Mirror episode Beyond The Sea.

Niels Bohr - Kenneth Branagh

British thespian Kenneth Branagh stars as Danish physicist Niels Bohr with the star next appearing as Hercule Poirot in A Haunting in Venice.

Lewis Strauss - Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. takes on the part of the Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss.

Downey Jr. will be reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes for the latest installment of the action franchise as well as parts in Play Dirty, The Sympathizer and All-Star Weekend.

Edward Teller - Benny Safdie

Benny Safdie stars as Hungarian nuclear scientist Edward Teller, who was initially a friend of Oppenheimer’s before becoming a rival.

Safdie is most recognizable for his roles in Good Time, Uncut Gems, The Black Balloon and Daddy Longlegs.

Most recently, he appeared in Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret, Pieces of a Woman, Licorice Pizza and appeared in the Disney Plus Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Other cast members include Stranger Things actor Matthew Modine as Vannevar Bush, David Krumholtz of HBO’s The Deuce fame as Isidor Rabi, Dane DeHaan from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Staircase as Kenneth Nichols, iCarly and How I Met Your Father’s Josh Peck as Kenneth Bainbridge, and Jason Clarke from Winchester and Everest as Roger Robb.
