Thugs brutally attack NYPD cop who asked them to stop smoking at subway station

Two men have been caught brutally beating a police officer at a Bronx subway station.

Karaem McClary, 23, and Izayiah Jessamy, 20, have been charged with assault on , resisting arrest and trespassing after the on Tuesday.

The fight broke out after an officer asked Jessamy, McClary and a third man to stop smoking inside the station - which they refused to do.

Officers attempted to remove the trio from the station, sparking the altercation.

In footage posted on social media, the men can be seen raining blows on the head, face and neck of the officer.

The cop, who has not beeen identified, can be seen shielding his head with his hands as the battery continued.

Other people can be seen yelling and milling about in the footage, before the officer manages to wrangle the men off him.

Multiple officers eventually handcuff the two men, before the third suspect makes a successful run-for-it down the subway stairs.

Only two suspects are charged so far with attacking the officers, while the third is still being sought by police.

The has released images of the man who fled and ask that anyone with information call the city's CrimeStoppers hotline.

Two officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, police said.

John D. Macari Jr, who posted the video to X, wrote: "Another NYPD officer assaulted in Bronx transit. Supposedly this occurred yesterday."

"As [NYPD Transit] Chief Kemper has repeatedly stated the rise in felony assaults are mainly against cops taking enforcement action. Does that make you feel safe in NYC?"
