NSYNC fans could be met with major disappointment after it was confirmed the 90s sensation boyband will not be returning for a tour or an album.

Viewers were thrilled to see Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and Chris Kirkpatrick make a surprise appearance together at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

The star-studded event saw some of music’s biggest names under one roof to celebrate the best music videos.

After almost 10 years since their reunion performance at the 2013 VMAs, NYSYNC was met with exhilaration as they presented the first award of the night, Best Pop.

Taylor Swift who was in the crowd and went on to win the award, jumped with joy to see the band make a surprise appearance.

The singers seemed to be in high hopes as they celebrated the evening with dinner together after the show, with a reported group of 50 other people.

Longtime fans were elated to see the group back together and quickly shared their hopes for a tour or album on social media.

However, despite the positive reaction TMZ reported the band has “no plans to tour, do a residency, album, or any other pop-up reunions.”

While fans continue to keep their fingers crossed, the NYSYNC showed appreciation before awarding Taylor the coveted award.

Addressing the roaring crowd, JC said: “Hello VMAs! Over 20 years ago we were just kids won Best Pop Video for Bye-bye bye. It was our first VMA it meant the world to us.”

Chris added: “That award validated our hard work and, well, we might have won again for Pop,” before asking: “You guys remember that?”

Lance continued: “A lot has changed in the past two decades, but the one thing that remains the same is that a creative boundary-pushing video leaves a lasting mark for decades.”

Joey exclaimed: “We just wanted to say thank you, MTV, and especially all of you guys. Thank you so much, each and each and every one of you, for supporting your favorite musical artists. Thank you guys.”

After reading the nominations, Justin then presented the award to “the unstoppable Taylor Swift,” who embraced the five singers with a hug, before admitting she was a huge fan.

Taking to the microphone, she stated: “I'm not doing well pivoting from this to this. I had your dolls.”

The 31-year-old was also eager to see a reunion as she asked: “Are you doing something? What's going to happen now? They're going to do something and I need to know what it is.”

Taylor then honoured NSYNC as she added: “You guys are -- you are pop personified so to receive this from your golden pop hands is... really, it's too much.”
