NFL insider Dianna Russini has revealed how her two-year-old son charged an unnamed general manager $50 after taking hold of her phone. The former ESPN analyst recounted the tale of how her boy left her in an embarrassing situation, during the recording of 'The Dan Le Batard Show'.

The 40-year-old broadcaster sat down for a wide-ranging discussion with Dan Le Batard and Jon 'Stugotz' Weiner, where she provided some insight into the less glamorous aspects of her job. The former 'NFL Countdown' and 'NFL Live' regular, who is now Senior NFL Insider for The Atheltic, even recounted the time her toddler left her with some explaining to do to a major NFL figure.

To the amusement of the show's co-hosts, Russini described how her son - who she shares with husband Kevin Goldschmidt - once made an impromptu request of an unspecified GM, who duly issued a heartwarming response. She detailed: "My fear is what my son did the other day.

"He took my phone and charged ... a very, very respected general manager in the NFL $50 at five o'clock in the morning, "This is why I will fight for this GM until the day I die. "He wrote back to me, 'Hey, is everything OK? Do you need money?'"

The out of the blue charge from her son coming after she had been discussing a recent roster move with the GM, likely making the incident appear even more random. She laughed: "And then three days later, it’s a $50 charge at five o’clock in the morning.”

Russini also joked that she had to simply come clean about what had happened, as she confessed to the leading NFL figure what had exactly gone on. Deciding honesty was the best policy in the scenario, she admitted: "I said, 'I’m so sorry, that was Mikey.'"

The journalist also addressed how the fallout from her report for The Athletic regarding Zach Wilson's purported 'reluctance' to return to action for the New York Jets has affected her in her day to day life. In a wide ranging conversation, she admitted that the reaction from some fans has been difficult to take.

"My week has been trash. It’s horrendous. I live in the New York market so I’m in the vortex of it all, she explained as she gave some insight into what the last few weeks have been like for her. "So I get to hear it and also hear from Jets fans when I drop my kids off at daycare.

"And look, when you’ve been doing this a long time and you’ve become a credible person covering the league, you hope that because of all the past stories you’ve done, you’ve built this trust with the audience and the fans," she confessed.

"But I realized over the last few days, it’s not that they don’t believe the report is accurate. They know the report is accurate, the story is just unbelievable. I think that’s where the issue is."
