This is the shocking moment Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante collapsed mid-sentence during a live televised speech.

Speaking at City Hall, Plante fell before aides quickly assisted her to a nearby elevator. She was then taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Following the health scare, she has reported feeling better and is currently in stable condition.

This incident marks her second health scare in 2023.

Plante addressed the episode later in the day, updating her condition with her followers on social media platform X.

The collapse occurred when, speaking in French, Plante suddenly declared, "Oh no. I feel unwell."

Aides promptly attended to her, and for a moment, she rested her head on one aide's knee.

Reporters and cameras were asked to leave the room.

There were no apparent signs of illness during her approximately 15-minute address and Q&A session before the incident occurred.

Plante will be reducing her workload in the upcoming days following the collapse at a municipal building on Tuesday.

Plante expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support was posted across her social media platforms.

Among those extending wishes for a swift recovery was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Regarding the support she has since received, she wrote "I feel blessed" and "It really warms my heart."

In addition to saying she would "slow the rhythm of her activities over the coming days," Plante mentioned her inability to attend a Ville-Marie borough council meeting, reassuring that her colleagues would take over in her absence.

Valérie Plante has been the Mayor of Montreal since November 16, 2017. She was elected as the 45th mayor of Montreal in the municipal elections held in 2017.
