Miley Cyrus details moment she knew Liam Hemsworth marriage wasn’t going to work

Nearly four years after filing for divorce, Miley Cyrus has opened up about her 10-year relationship with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

In her Used to Be Young TikTok series, she candidly discussed the moment she realized that her marriage with Liam was no longer going to work.

This realization occurred during the UK's Glastonbury music festival in June 2019, a significant turning point in her life.

During this festival, Miley said she decided “it was no longer going to work in [her] life to be in that relationship."

Miley continued: “That was another moment where the work, the performance, the character came first.”

“I guess that’s why it’s now so important to me for that not to be the case — that the human comes first,” the singer concluded.

Miley reflected on the deep connection she and Liam shared, which initially stemmed from love but also carried the weight of past traumas.

“Me and Liam’s commitment to being married, of course, came from a place of love first because we had been together for 10 years," Miley shared.

She continued, “But also from a place of trauma and just trying to rebuild as quickly as we could.”

Despite the heartache and subsequent breakup, Miley shared fond memories from her relationship with Liam.

The two fell in love on the set of the movie “The Last Song.”

“I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special was it was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real life and in real time,” Miley reflected.
