'Femicides' on the rise across Mexico

Authorities have confirmed the grisly discovery of the charred remains of businessman Daniel de la Garza and one of his employees, identified as Pascual Segura Araiza.

The gruesome find was made on December 6 as law enforcement officers in the Mexican state of Nuevo León were investigating the disappearance of both men.

Reports from local media indicate the bodies, bearing gunshot wounds, were found incinerated inside a vehicle along a remote path.

Friends and associates of the victims mourned the deaths of De la Garza and Segura Araiza on social media.

The faculty at a local university joined in the collective grief, writing on its official page: "We share in the sorrow that envelops family, friends, and acquaintances, wishing for swift solace."

Another heartfelt message from someone close to De la Garza said: "You left us too early, compadre.

"You will be greatly missed. We will cherish so many memories, always original, witty, and above all, a good friend."

On December 2, the pair noticed a man attempting to steal a vehicle as they headed to Casa Rebeca, a luxury estate owned by Daniel.

De la Garza was a prominent entrepreneur in the region.

On the same day, both men were forcibly taken, authorities believe.

According to preliminary reports, security agents were actively investigating the case when the disturbing discovery was made.

While specific details surrounding this tragedy are still emerging, it underscores the broader issue of insecurity and crime plaguing the country.

Mexico has grappled with elevated levels of violence in recent years, fueled by various factors such as organized crime, drug trafficking, and economic disparities.
