Meghan Markle looked nervous during her big 're-branding' moment in NYC

EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle co-hosted a summit on parenting in the digital age and navigating social media but the Duchess of Sussex seemed a little off her game, according to a body language expert.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a quick trip to NYC for World Mental Health Day. Body expert Judi James felt like Meghan was off her game, noticing anxiety rituals and change of voice.

The royal couple swung by a school in Brooklyn and then headed to Hudson Yards to co-host a summit on mental health. Harry and Meghan had a seven-car caravan escort, but when they arrived to the Midtown venue, it was surprisingly quiet. Express US talked to people in the area, with passersby saying they didn’t know about their visit.

The summit kicked off at 1:30pm with Meghan and Harry addressing parenting in the digital age.

Daily Express US spoke to Judi James about how the day went with her suggesting this was meant to be a “re-branding for Harry and Meghan" and why it didn't go well.

James considers Harry and Meghan a “wannabe celebrity power couple” who are known for their “romantic display of total attachment” and this was their chance to switch gears.

She added: “This summit did seem to see what looked like something of a re-branding for Harry and Meghan. The wannabe celebrity power couple who are known for their romantic displays of total attachment and her very passionate and motivational speeches about their various causes seemed to land somewhere in between their different roles here, prompting a complete change of body language and speech rituals and even styling alterations.”

And it seems Meghan have missed the mark in regards to wardrobe, dressing for a night out versus a talk with concerned parents, James added: “They looked dressed for an evening event and her stunning strapless jacket and pants looked more red carpet than daytime summit.”

It wasn’t just the look, James noticed a change in sound: “Her intonation had changed when she spoke, too. Meghan used rising inflections at the ends of every sentence here, making it sound as though she was unsure and speaking in questions not statements,” which you can hear in the video itself.

It didn’t stop there, James noticed something completely new about Meghan’s disposition: “With her legs crossed elegantly she had a royal presence but then came two new gestures of discomfort, anxiety or nerves. As she spoke she rubbed her leg and at another point her hand grasped at the chain around her neck.”

James found it surprising based on Meghan's prior accomplishments, adding: “The leg-rub was pronounced but both were out of character for a woman who managed to handle a royal wedding with no sign of nerves whatsoever.”

She doesn’t necessarily know what the cause is, providing a breakdown: “It’s harder to suggest why these changes in behavior. Meghan’s acting experience might suggest her behaviors were deliberate rather than subconscious, which in turn could suggest they wanted to suggest empathy, as though they are also victims of this issue along with the audience. Or of course it could have been prompted by circumstances. Their last visit to NY didn’t seem to end too well.”

James is referring to their May 2023 visit, with Harry and Meghan claiming it ended in an alleged “near catastrophic” car crash, reports Daily Express UK
