The Masked Singer unmasks Pickle as Friends star & podcast host - but fans already knew

On The Masked Singer, the cast sang 2000s hits - with Pickle being revealed as an actor with Friends, Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino connections.

The Masked Singer’s 2000s night has claimed another celebrity elimination - though fans had already figured out who he was.

After a performance to Weezer track Beverly Hills, Pickle was put in a battle royale against S’mores to Fall Out Boy classic, Sugar, We’re Going Down - but it wasn’t enough and he was sent home.

It was then revealed it was actor and podcaster, Michael Rapaport, who’s famed for roles in Netflix’s Atypical, True Romance, Deep Blue Sea, Justified and Boston Public.

But while none of the judges guessed correctly - instead favoring Howard Stern, Conan O’Brien, Joel McHale or Charlie Sheen - fans were a bit more quick on the uptake.

In fact, they’d cracked it over a week ago, after his performance to Pinball Wizard by The Who.

Clues and giveaways included Rapaport’s distinct thick New York accent, nods to getting into fights on the internet, and a podcast microphone.

There were also nods to his work with Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino.

In the latest episode, Lance Bass made an appearance to give a clue on his behalf - showing pickles in wigs that said ‘Friends’.

It was added: “I’ve done so many things for so many years, and people always associate me with my famous friends.”

The clue was in reference to his role on the 90s sitcom, Friends, as one of Phoebe’s short-lived cop boyfriend.

Speaking after filming the show, Rapaport told Variety he was “nervous” about performing but delighted in the part as he “had never sang in public before”.

“My singing and my voice brings tears of joy. And I had a lot of fun doing the show,” he told the outlet.

“I came to win. Unfortunately, I didn’t win this season, but you know the impression of the Pickle will live on forever!”

He added that he had planned a disco track for the group A finale next week, and had “taken the competition seriously” even though it was fun.

Rapaport joins the cast of other unveiled celebrities from this year’s season, which include Demi Lovato (Anonymouse in the launch special), Black-ish star Anthony Anderson (Rubber Ducky), and Vanderpump Rules star, Tom Sandoval (Diver).

The Masked Singer continues Wednesday nights on Fox and is available the next day on Hulu.
