Madonna pokes fun at the Pope by wearing Catholic-themed hoodie during tour rehearsals

Madonna wore a black hoodie with a caricature of Pope Francis on it while she rehearsed for her upcoming Celebration Tour.

The Pope hasn't been caught wearing a T-shirt yet, but the Queen of Pop can certainly wear a hoodie with the Catholic leader on it.

On October 3, the music icon, 65, took to Instagram to post several sexy pics of herself as she gets ready for her upcoming Celebration Tour.

Several snaps featured Madonna flaunting her figure in a risqué black lace corset and matching gloves while others showed her wearing a black hoodie with a red image of Pope Francis.

The custom design is by Seks — a favorite of Julia Fox — and depicts the Pope with flaming wings.

In 2022, Madonna requested a meeting with the religious leader, but it never came to about.

At the time, Madonna tweeted to the Pope with: “Hello @Pontifex Francis —I’m a good Catholic. I Swear! I mean I don’t Swear! Its [sic] been a few decades since my last confession. Would it be possible to meet up one day to discuss some important matters ? I’ve been ex communicated [sic] 3 times. It doesn’t seem fair. Sincerely Madonna."

The Like a Virgin singer has a complicated history with Catholicism.

The Catholic church called her behavior “blasphemous” after she strapped herself to a cross and wore a crown of thorns during a 2006 performance in Rome.

“This is a blasphemous challenge to the faith and a profanation of the cross,” the late Cardinal Ersilio Tonini said at the time (per the Evening Standard) on behalf of then-Pope Benedict XVI, adding, “She should be excommunicated.”

Of course, her controversial 1989 music video for Like a Prayer was banned by the Vatican because of the burning crosses and erotic depiction of Jesus.

Following the release of the music video, Pope John Paul II encouraged fans to boycott her Blond Ambition tour.

Controversial Pope hoodie aside, Madonna has been busy giving her blood, sweat and tears to her upcoming Celebration Tour, which was postponed following her recent hospitalization for a bacterial infection over the summer.

Her Oct 3 rehearsal photo dump showed her once again in black corset.

In her previous rehearsal photo drump on Instagram, one snap showed the singer collapsed in a chair by her dancers, looking exhausted with her eyes closed as an ice pack rests on her knee.

Another saw her closing her eyes, seemingly catching a few seconds of sleep after getting her make-up done.

A third picture showed her back on her feet, but her knee was strapped up in a blue brace.

The same brace is also seen on her as she mounted a chair in the latest rehearsals.

The tour is scheduled to start October 14 at the O2 Arena in London, England.
