She was found unresponsive and was rushed to a hospital in New York after suffering a "serious bacterial infection" that left her needing to be injected with the drug Narcan to combat her life-threatening septic shock.

Thankfully, Madonna is now recovering but has bene forced to postpone the North American leg of her world tour.

When waking up for the first time after being found unrepsonsive, Madonna has revealed that her first thought was her children and the second was her beloved fans.

"My second thought is that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour," explained the singer.

"I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.

"My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can!"

The 64-year-old will still be going on tour but has decided to postpone the first section of her shows so that she has time to rest and recuperate.

"The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and begin in October in Europe," she explained.

Sources close to the singer say she has been left exhausted by the infection and had been pushing herself too hard in the days before she was taken ill.

The Celebration tour was supposed to kick off in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday, July 15 and conclude on January 30, 2024, at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico.

It’s been reported Madonna “ignored” signs that she was unwell during rehearsals for her highly anticipated world tour.

The source claimed: "She ignored some symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away. But she didn't want to take time away from rehearsals.

"She was run down and not feeling 100 percent for a while in anticipation of her tour."

Speaking to PEOPLE, the insider added: “She is relentless in her quest to be the best, to wow her fans and to do what others before her have not done.

“Madonna has been very busy for a long time and not taking care of herself. She just continues to push herself beyond the limit.”
