The third episode of Loki season two was released last Thursday, revealing another new aspect of Jonathan Majors’ contributions to the MCU after starring in AntMan and the Wasp: Quantumania and the first season of Loki with plenty more appearances expected by fans throughout phase five of the studios' projects.

In the role of Kang the Conqueror, and his variants including He Who Remains, Jonathan was set to be the next ultimate villain in the superhero universe following the demise of Thanos - but that has been thrown into jeopardy.

In March this year, the Hollywood star was arrested and accused of assault and aggravated harassment after an alleged domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in Manhattan.

Shortly after, Deadline reported that the actor had been dropped by his managers and PR team and had lost at least one movie role as well as two ad campaigns over the allegations.

Today the actor is set to enter one of his first hearings in New York on the matter with all eyes on the outcome as fans believe it could be a predictor for the future of their beloved MCU characters.

In the seven months since the alleged incident, there have been relentless twists and revelations complicating matters, with prosecutors just last week filing documents seen by Variety referring to a previous incident in London that they believe is relevant to today’s proceedings.

The new 115-page filing, however, also notes that prosecutors are attempting to get a copy of the London Metropolitan Police report from September last year when Jonathan was filming the second season of Loki.

Earlier this week the Messenger reported that Grace, Jonathan’s accuser, will also be facing assault charges after the actor filed a counter-complaint against her in June and she is expected to voluntarily report to the NYPD.

Kasra Farahani, director of Loki season two episode three which gives Jonathan more screen time than he’s arguably had throughout the entire series, previously revealed that a number of upcoming Marvel projects likely won’t be affected by the actor’s arrest or the outcome in the courts, including Loki.

He explained to Screenrant that the second season had already finished filming when Jonathan was arrested, ensuring it wouldn’t be affected and highlighted that the situation was “a surprise for sure” as he’d had “such a great experience” on set with the 34-year-old.

As for Jonathan’s wider role in the MCU as the many versions of Kang, Deadline reported that Disney and Marvel are currently not planning to replace him and expect him to star in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars.

However, the first of these two planned movies is only set for release in 2026 and could be delayed even further due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, leaving time for changes before production starts.
